Trapped by Dinan Jeremiah Pingamage
“Bye mom and dad” Said Peter. “Have a nice holiday” Said Sam. Peter and Sam’s mom and dad left on a holiday allowing them to be at home by themselves.
“I’m bored” Said Sam. So they went outside. Their backyard had a nice tiny stream and a beautiful plum tree. Their dad had a shed filled with tools and spare parts. The two boys decided they would make something with those things in the shed. “Maybe we could make a flying vehicle” Said Peter. “Let’s see what we can find” Said Sam. They found two fans, a power box that was full, motor, a pair of bike pedals, wires, a bike handle, two seats and some metal poles of all sizes. They put the parts together so the fans would connect to the motor and lift the vehicle into the air. If the power box lost power they could use the bike pedals to power up the fan. The poles connected everything together and the wires transported the electricity.
“Lets take off!” Said Peter when he got on. “So how do we take off?” He said. He tried to pedal and then the machine flew into the air about a meter above ground. “Well come on Sam get on!” Shouted Peter. “Shouldn’t we get our bags first, I already have them packed” Said Sam. “I guess, but I’m not getting off” Said Peter. Sam ran in and grabbed the bags. He got back outside and hopped on a seat. Peter hit the power box and started to pedal for five seconds then he stopped. The vehicle picked up speed and instantly they were flying over the beautiful harbour they lived in.
Sam had a look in his bag and he found a weird circle. He pulled it again and again just when he was about to give up… Bang! The circle really was a lid of a bottle of beer and it shot out like a rocket. Sam was holding the bottle of beer without a lid. “What on earth is happening back there?” Peter turned around and said, “What in the world are you doing with beer.” “It just came here, I don’t know how.” “Lets just keep driving” Said Sam.
Meanwhile the lid was on its way out of the earth’s atmosphere. In a little while the lid hit a satellite and sent thousands of tiny balls out. At that exact moment a whole new tropical island shot out of the ocean and all the balls went straight to it. This island was a secret even the satellite couldn’t spot it. When the balls reached the island they turned into strange creatures some were green, some were purple, and some were blue and lots of other colours. The aliens were very smart because during their time in the satellite they learnt all about the world.
Peter and Sam were also heading to that same island.
They finally saw the island and decided they would stop there. They were heading towards a very tall tree. Then they crashed into the tree but the vehicle didn’t stop. It was moving forward at a great speed; suddenly a vine caught a fan. Then it stopped and sent the boys flying. A thick vine caught both their ankles just as they were about to hit the ground. “Well that solved our braking problem!” Said Peter. “Now how do we get down?” In about twenty minutes the vine was worn out so it snapped. They fell on their heads. They stood up and started rubbing their heads. They found a five-story tree house to stay in. They went to the top level and saw a crystal clear lake from up there. They just jumped in. “The water is freezing” Said Peter. They got out and walked around. They found half foot, half paw prints. ”We’re not the only ones here it seems.” Said Peter. Peter and Sam wondered what that creature could be. It was nighttime so Peter and Sam got blankets from their bags and slept on the floor. Thankfully the island was in the southern hemisphere so the night was dark. When Peter woke up he found a circle of light on his hand. “Hey Sam look at this” He said. “What” said Sam. “It looks like it’s coming through glass.” “Hold on” Said Peter. He went to the top level and jumped onto a tree. He started to climb and as he climbed the circle got bigger. When he got to the top he reached up and felt the glass. “Glass! we’re trapped!” He screamed. They stared at the sky wondering what was going on with their parents.
Their parents weren’t having the best time either. They went in a boat and were going to Hawaii. The wind blew them off course so they headed to a strange country. The cruise boat was wrecked so they were on a wooden boat with oars. They were heading towards the island when… Crack! They made a hole in some glass. “We better head back, ” Said their dad. So they rowed away.
It was another night for Peter and Sam. While they slept the aliens came to the tree house. They took Peter and Sam to their bamboo jails. When they woke up they were surprised to find themselves trapped again. “What’s going on now?” Just then a alien with tentacles came and said,” Your execution day is tomorrow.” Then Peter had an idea. It was the execution day today and Peter told Sam his plan. The aliens took the two kids to get their heads chopped off for trespassing. “Put your head here” Said the alien. Peter put his head where he was asked. The executioner alien took aim, the aliens who were watching closed their eyes and the executioner alien closed his eyes for a moment. Then Peter made a funny hand signal and then they ran away. The executioner swung his axe down and it hit the wood below causing him to fall down. “After them!” He screamed. Peter and Sam climbed trees and crawled through vines. Grabbing a few things to fix the vehicle on their way. They got to the vehicle and replaced the poles with sticks. The aliens were right below them. There were only four vines stopping them from falling in to the alien’s hands. The aliens went to search a different part of the island. Then when they left the vines snapped and Peter and Sam fell down. They stayed there for the night.
In the morning Peter and Sam untangled the vine from the fan. They were ready to start it up but they didn’t eat any food. So they needed breakfast. They found a fruit tree beside them. It was a blue hexagon shaped fruit but when Sam tried it he vomited. “It tastes like worms and snake guts,” He said. Peter took one because he couldn’t starve then he vomited too, right on top of an alien. The alien said, “ Must be a bird” Then he looked up but luckily Peter got out of view just in time. The plan was to find a part of the island that wasn’t roamed by aliens. They started the vehicle up and it worked perfectly. It soared into the air. As soon as they got out of the trees the aliens heard the roar of the motors. They ran towards them. One alien grabbed the vehicle but Sam kicked it of. “Is that a hole?” Asked Peter. “Lets go through and find out”. So they flew through the hole that their parents made. The aliens were shouting things like who didn’t patch this up, in Japanese. The two boys were going over the ocean when the motor stopped working. The two boys were too tired to pedal so they were falling down at top speed. The air was pushing the fan and then the motor started to work. Then suddenly they landed in a tiny wooden boat. The motor landed in the boat and fans landed out of the boat. “Dad, mom what are you doing here” Said Peter. “I’ll tell you when we get home,” Said dad. Then the sticks hit the boat and made a hole. The motor made it go forward and the sticks made it go down. It was a race. They could see the shore of their country. Then the boat sank but the fans were so fast so the water was only knee deep. They made it home because their house was near the shore. They all got a nice mug of hot chocolate. They were talking about their story when they finally noticed that their parents had made that hole. “So thanks for saving our lives” Said Sam. “ You’re welcome, those aliens sound horrid and I’m glad you came back in one piece. “So how about another holiday across the ocean or are you too seasick?” Laughed dad. Then they stayed at home never wanting to go in a boat or plane again, at least on that day.
