About Yabbies

• The life span of a yabby is between four and eight years.
• A yabby lays around 400 eggs.
• If a yabby grabs your skin with its claws, it will not let go.
• Yabbies’ claws and legs can grow back if thy are broken off.
• Yabbies can be kept as pets.
  
• Yabbies will eat almost anything including goldfish. Sometimes they even eat each other!
• If the water in a dam dries up, yabbies will bury themselves in the mud and wait for rain.
• Yabbeis shed their shell, just like a snake sheds its skin. The new shell takes about two weeks to grow.
  
• Yabbies are found in all states in Australia except Tasmania and Western Australia.
